La Dolce Vita, translated into “the sweet life” or “the good life” is a philosophy that encompasses the Italian way of life, where every moment is savored, and every experience is enjoyed to the fullest. From iconic Amalfi coastlines to the sun-kissed hills of Tuscany, we are in love with Italy. We sat down with Italian beauty Anna Bonotto, BARTS' graphic designer, to see what inspires her the most.
Amsterdam is a city of endless charm, with a relaxed yet lively atmosphere. From its picturesque canals lined with boats and floating houses to its markets rich in local delights, every corner offers something new to discover.
After more than 3 years here, I have become deeply attached to this city thanks to its stimulating pace of life and the wide range of activities available, ranging from museums to cozy cafes and parks where you can relax and recharge your energies.
I enjoy strolling along the canals and stopping at a cozy café for a good coffee. Amsterdam is just the right size, and you can easily get around by bike everywhere, thanks to the perfect cycle paths for exploring the city.
For me, Amsterdam represents a unique combination of beauty and culture, and I am incredibly fortunate to have chosen it as my home.
I often draw inspiration from Instagram channels of other designers I follow, as well as from photography and platforms like Pinterest. I also find inspiration in museums and the architecture of the cities I visit. I enjoy exploring places rich in inspiration, like Paris, one of my fav, where I always find something new to incorporate into my creative repertoire. During my travels, I often make stops at museums, whether they showcase contemporary, classical, or photographic art. I also appreciate theaters, which I consider genuine sources of art and music. Music, in fact, is one of my greatest allies during my creative process. I love listening to music of all genres, as it always accompanies me in my creative work, stimulating my creativity in different ways.
My distinctive style in the art I create is characterized by clean lines, bold colors, and a minimalist aesthetic, whether it's graphic design, photography, or product design. I aim to convey simplicity and elegance in my work, often incorporating geometric shapes and symmetry to create visually appealing compositions that are modern and timeless. I pay close attention to detail and craftsmanship, ensuring that every element of my work is executed with care. I like to be precise and detailed, and I'm always striving for perfection.
Growing up with Italian roots has profoundly influenced my creative process in many ways. Italy's rich cultural heritage, famous for its art, architecture, cuisine, and design, has been a constant source of inspiration for me. The beauty, craftsmanship, and creativity prevalent in Italian culture have shaped my artistic sensibilities from a young age. I am drawn to Italian art movements such as the Renaissance and Futurism, as well as the vibrant colors and motifs found in Italian fashion and design.
Furthermore, the values of family, community, and passion deeply rooted in Italian culture resonate with me and influence my approach to collaboration, storytelling, and infusing emotion into my work. The emphasis on craftsmanship and attention to detail, prevalent in Italian artisanal traditions, has instilled in me a commitment to excellence and a meticulous approach to my art. I personally experienced craftsmanship when I attended high school, studying art and practicing ceramics. This hands-on experience made me realize the importance of putting quality, precision, and passion into art in all its forms.
Overall, my Italian roots serve as a constant source of inspiration, providing me with a unique perspective and fueling my creative endeavors with a sense of history, tradition, and passion.
In Napoli, I love Marechiaro, a small and charming beach in the Posillipo district. It's famous for its clear waters and typical fishing boats, and it offers a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Naples and Vesuvio Vulcan. It's the perfect place for a relaxing day away from the city's hustle and bustle. When it comes to Favignana, I can't help but mention Cala Rossa. Considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy, with its turquoise and crystal-clear waters reminiscent of the Caribbean, it's the ideal spot for snorkeling and admiring the rich marine life. In Venice, I really like the Alberoni beach at Lido di Venezia. It's one of the most peaceful beaches, characterized by natural sand dunes and a nature reserve. It's an ideal place for those seeking peace and nature, away from the crowds. In Puglia, Alimini Beach is a true gem. With its long stretches of white and black sand and crystal-clear sea. Finally, the Spiaggia dei Conigli in Lampedusa is simply heavenly. With its fine sand and turquoise waters, it's often considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. These are just a few of my favorite spots, perfect for enjoying natural beauty and relaxation by the sea.
I chose the blue Des Bralette and High Cut bikini paired with the Kaukura Cap in blue. I picked blue because it’s my favorite color and it reminds me of the ocean and the Mediterranean blue where I come from, and where many of my favorite spots in Italy are located.
I also decided to take the Caltay Dress in Sage Green, a color I love to wear, and with its tiered design, it’s perfect for a summer evening dress, not just for the beach.
Along with the Kelky Bow Tie and Kelky Tanga, I thought a simple canvas bag would pair well, so I chose the Reau Bag in Off-White. I usually avoid floral prints, but this one caught my eye, and its warm colors captivated me.
I hope that you, like me, fall in love with the BARTS' summer collection.
